Learn how to correctly format your CSV file to upload materials to your Roofr catalog.
CSV File Requirements for Material Catalog Upload:
- Name is the only required field - all other columns are optional but must still be included in your file.
- Your CSV file must maintain the exact same column order as the template- do not rearrange, add, or remove any columns, even if they're empty.
- Only .csv file format is accepted for upload.
Column Descriptions:
UUID
UUID is a unique identifying number that Roofr assigns to each item in your catalog.
For first-time uploads:
- Leave the UUID column empty - Roofr will automatically generate these numbers for your new items
For re-uploading existing items:
- Keep any existing UUID values as they are - do not change or delete them
- These numbers tell Roofr which items to update rather than create duplicates
Adding new items during a re-upload:
- Leave the UUID cell empty for any new items you want to add
- Fill in all other required columns (like Name) for these new items
- Roofr will automatically generate UUIDs for the new items while updating the existing ones
NAME
The Name field will be shown on proposals, invoices, and material orders.
- This field is mandatory - every item must have a name
Examples:
- "Architectural Shingles - Charcoal Gray"
- "Copper Gutters - 6 inch"
💡 Tip: Use consistent naming conventions to keep your catalog organized and professional-looking on customer documents.
DESCRIPTION
Use this field to provide additional details about your materials. 2000 character limit, including spaces.
MEASUREMENT
This field tells Roofr how to calculate material quantities automatically based on your roof measurement reports.
How it works:
- Choose measurement types that match how your material is sold/installed
- Roofr will use these measurements to calculate the right quantities in proposals
Formatting Rules:
- Separate multiple values with commas: VALUE1, VALUE2
- Only use values from the same category (don't mix Linear Feet with Square Feet)
Available Categories:
| Measurement | Possible Values |
|---|---|
| Linear Feet | EAVES_LENTH, VALLEYS_LENGTH, WALL_FLASHING_LENGTH, STEP_FLASHING_LENGTH, RIDGES_LENGTH, RAKES_LENGTH, HIPS_LENGTH, TRANSITIONS_LENGTH, PARAPET_LENGTH |
| Square Feet | TOTAL_PITCH_AREA, TOTAL_FLAT_AREA |
| Squares | TOTAL_PITCH_AREA_SQUARES, TOTAL_FLAT_AREA_SQUARES |
